Sorry for the hiatus!

Hello blogworld!

Justine here… Sorry I haven’t been around much lately.  Life has been really busy during the last week and I let my blogging fall behind. So sorry!! It won’t happen again ;)

If there is anyone out there that reads our new blog, please comment! Dani and I have been the only commenters thus far and would love to hear from our readers (if we have any… yet)  I know we will!!!!

My weekend was okay… Just okay because I had a few minor issues, and one MAJOR issue.

Major: The plumbing in my house has completely gone wacky and is dumping ANYTHING that goes down the drain under my house. Ahhh… Hopefully it won’t cost mucho dinero to get this issue fixed. Right now I can’t even bathe at home! Thank goodness I had already planned on dinner at my Mommy’s house tonight, so I will be able to shower there!

Minor: My cat was missing Friday – Saturday! This is only minor because he has since been found! I was out of town visiting Danielle in Leesburg, so I couldn’t do anything about it! Luckily, Once I returned from Dani’s, I found him! He had fallen through one of the holes that are now in my floor due to the plumbing problem.  He is a little fat cat, so once he fell through into the crawl space, it was too far for him to jump back up and he got stuck! I heard his faint little ‘meow’ and saw him come running through one of the holes. I couldn’t pick him up from that angle, but there are openings outside along the bottom of the house, so I opened one up and called him to me so he could escape. I am so happy he is okay!

My fat cat - Toby Tyler!

Since I don’t currently have a working camera (I am hoping to have one soon since Christmas is right around the corner… hint, hint!) I have been using either my phone, or not taking photos at all. Still waiting on Ms. Danielle to upload the pictures from our night out at Ember… She is a very busy girl though with full time work, school and being a mommy to two incredible little boys, so she has a valid excuse!

My weekend eats looked something like this:

Hummus & Veggies

and this:

A Must!

and also lots of these:

Yum, Yum, Yum

This weekends workouts consisted of some Exercise TV on Demand, I did Jillian Michaels 30-Day Shred x 2. I also took my girls running at the Sanford Riverwalk again and did interval walking/running for approx. 5 miles.

I look forward to getting on a regular blogging schedule and especially having a new camera that works. Have a great night and I will be back tomorrow with a recap of my family dinner at my Mommy’s house!  :)

TGIF!

Good morning blog world!! Today is Friday the 13th!

Danielle and I are headed to downtown Orlando tonight for some good times with good friends! We are probably going to Ember, which is a restaurant during the day, but at night turns into a night club.  This will be our first time there, so we are really excited!

Doesn’t it look nice?!? Très exciting!!

A big issue for us when going out is controlling the amount of calories and sugar/carbs that we take in from alcoholic beverages. For me, I am doing Atkins, so it is very hard to find low carb mixers… My go-to drink lately is vodka with sugar-free red bull. Unfortunately, a lot of places don’t always stock sugar-free mixers, so it can become quite a challenge to drink without cheating. In the past I have even gone so far as to smuggle in some sugar-free, low carb juices and then order vodka on the rocks in a large glass. The hard part was having to go into the bathroom to mix it since most places will kick you out for doing such a thing! I can’t speak for Danielle, but I am sure she will be posting soon so you can learn all about her go-to drinks too!

Okay, so we started this blog to document our diet struggles. A major portion of this journey includes what we put into our bodies. Since it is important when dieting to keep track of this, we have decided to keep track on our blog so we can share with the world! LOL, not really the world — just a select few. We are actually really doing this for ourselves, but if we can help inspire just one person out there with our struggles, then it will be well worth it!

November 12, 2009 – Justine’s Eats  (Limit 20 grams of carbohydrates per day)

  • Coffee x 2 = 4.0 carbs
  • Salad with tuna, lots of veggies and 1 Tbs. ranch = 5.0
  • Side salad with steak, chicken, queso, pico de gallo & guacamole = 5.0
  • Salmon (6 oz.) with grilled zucchini, squash & onions = 5.0
  • Water = Between 16-24 oz.

TOTAL CARBS = 19

(I really need to work on drinking more water!!! And less coffee, although yesterday I only had 2 cups so GO ME!)

Well, I should get to work, I am feeling very behind. ugh…

Have a wonderful Friday the 13th!   :)

Question of the day: What do you do when faced with drinking adult beverages? Do you have a go-to drink that won’t break your diet?
